This map first appeared in Montanus’ book De Nieuwe en Onbekende Weereld, published in Amsterdam in 1671. It depicts New Amsterdam as it looked in 1651. Subsequently it appeared in a number of other books. It is possibly based on a drawing by Augustine Herrman made in 1656 or 57.
