MEKAS, JONAS. [1949–1955] Lithuanian, a survivor of a German concentration camp. Filmmaker, writer, critic, and president of the Anthology Film Archives. He was relocated to the U.S. by the United Nations after World War II. He wrote film reviews for The Village Voice. Diary published as I Had Nowhere to Go. New York, Black Thistle Press, 1991.
