TROLLOPE, FRANCES “FANNY.” [1831] British visitor to U.S. After attempting a grandiose business venture that failed, she wrote a scathing critique of the new democracy. While most of America displeased her, she was fond of New York. Her entries are not dated, but the account of her trip on the Hudson can be dated by external events.
